Dear all,
We are very pleased to announce SDK 2.0.0! And we commence the beta testing now!
Notable changes include:
A new custom display widget. This widget allows a 45 to generate dynamic imagery on a front panel surface using Lua code. The widget can also receive input from the user, which makes it possible to create interactive XY-pads, programmers, etc.
Improved execution speed of the standard library math functions.
Re-written and re-formatted documentation with many clarifications and additions.
Numerous bug fixes.
We have also made many changes to Reason's Jukebox hosting, including a number of stability and performance improvements.
SDK 2.0.0 Rack Extensions will be supported in Reason 7.1 and Reason Essentials 2.1 and forwards. Reason 7.1 is a free upgrade for all existing Reason 7.0 users (analogous for Reason Essentials). Reason 7.1 and Essentials 2.1 are currently in Beta testing. All Rack Extension developers have received beta test licenses.
SDK 2.0.0 is available for beta testing and can be downloaded from
www.propellerheads.se/developer. Please report any problems or issues you find to
mrjukebox@propellerheads.se. Note that the current beta release does not contain a Part Library, please use the existing Part Library from SDK 1.0.4.
The Propellerhead build server accepts SDK 2.0.0 builds; simply create a Universal 45 using SDK 2.0.0 and upload it to the Propellerhead web page as usual.
Reason Recon in SDK 2.0.0 is based on Reason Essentials 2.1 (which corresponds to Reason 7.1)
You canot use SDK 2.0.0 to build Rack Extensions for Reason 6.5 and 7.0. Reason Recon 7.1 will not load local 45:s built with SDK 1.0.5. To build Rack Extensions for Reason 6.5 and 7.0, you have to use the existing Jukebox SDK 1.0.5.
If you upload an existing product using SDK 2.0.0, it will "switch" to the new SDK. After this, it will not be possible to upload updates for the product using SDK 1.0.5. Owners of Reason 6.5 will be able to upgrade to the last version of the product that was created with SDK 1.0.5, but will not be able to upgrade to versions of the product that was created with SDK 2.0.0 (unless they upgrade to Reason 7.1).
Creating new products using SDK 1.0.5 is allowed.
Have fun or someone else will,
/ The Rack Extension Team
